The camera features excellent optical performance, processors, and sensors that will ensure that photos and video are all captured with high dynamic range and more image detail for advanced post-production needs.
Optimized 4K Footage
The Phantom 4’s enhanced video processing system allows video to be captured in cinema and production in 4k (4096 x 1060) at 60 fps at a bit rate of 100 Mbps. The Phantom 4 Advanced also can support H.265 video codec at 4K 30 fps. For any given bit rate, H.265 doubles the image processing amount as H.264 which will result in a much more overall enhanced image quality and improved compression. Users can record footage in high dynamic range D-log mode that would make the most of the image data for colour grading.
High Lens Resolution
The camera on the Phantom 4 Advanced has an improved f/28 wide-angle 24 mm equivalent focal length. The lens features eight individual elements, two being aspherical, that are arranged in seven separate groups that fit into a much smaller, and more compact frame. The images captured are much more detailed with lower distortion and noise to ensure the best quality photos possible.
Five Total Vision Sensors
With a comprehensive FlightAutonomy system is made of five total vision sensors, ultrasonic rangefinders, redundant sensors, dual-band satellite position (GPS and GLONASS.) The Phantom 4 Advanced can hover in place precisely without GPS and to fly in complex environments. The Phantom 4 Advance’s dual forward vision sensors can see 98’ in front, and can auto brake, hover, or detour front facing obstacles that are within a 49-foot range.
Remote Controller with an Optimized Lightbridge HD Video Link
The Phantom 4 Remote is built with DJI’s upgraded Lightbridge HD video transmission which gives the unit a 720p HD live view with a full range of up to 4.3 miles. The system uses a combined 2.4 GHz signal for monitoring and piloting control. This feature is in contrast to the Phantom 4 Pro, which offers a 5.8 GHz channel option in addition to a 2.4 Ghz signal. With the DJI GO 4 app, users can easily live-stream, edit and share video and photos with a simple tap of a button.
Obstacle Avoidance System
The Phantom 4 Advanced features front and bottom facing obstacle avoidance sensors so users can fly with peace of mind. Its dual forward vision sensors can see 30m in front of the aircraft, and enable the auto brake, hover, or detour functions in front of objects that are in a 15-meter range.
Flight Performance and Battery Life
The Phantom 4 Advanced features an extended range of 7 km and a flight time of 30 minutes to give users plenty of time to perfect their shot. For speed seekers, the Phantom 4 Advanced can additionally reach a maximum speed of 72 kph.
The DJI Go App will show users the battery life of their drone and calculate the remaining flight times according to the drones distance traveled. Users will automatically be alerted when the drone reaches a minimum safe amount of time required for a safe journey back to their launching point.
Intelligent Flight Modes
In Draw Mode, users can draw a route on their Phantom 4 Advance’s display screen and have the drone fly in that direction with a locked-in altitude. This will allow pilots to keep their focus on their drones camera control for more creative and dynamic shots. The drone features two different Draw modes that can be used in different situations.
Forward – The aircraft will follow a route at a consistent pace with the camera facing in the direction of flight
Free – The aircraft will only move along the pre-planned route when instructed. This mode allows the camera to move in any direction during flight
Having your drone follow fast-moving objects can prove to be a challenge, but thanks to advanced image-recognition algorithms, the Phantom 4 Advanced can recognize and track any object while keeping it in the frame. The drones advanced system can recognize a wide variety of subjects including animals, people, and vehicles, and will adjust flight dynamics according to the subject, for smoother and more complex shots.
Trace – Follow an object in front or behind while avoiding obstacles
Profile – Follow alongside an object with a variety of angles
Spotlight – Kepp the camera on one object while the drone flies almost anywhere and any direction
With TapFly users can simply tap on the screen and the aircraft will move in that direction while automatically avoiding obstacles. A new AR route function also enables the aircraft to track real-time flight direction for reference as the route is adjusted. It can sometimes be hard to control course, speed, altitude, and camera pitch using only the drone remotes joysticks. With TapFly Free, users can set a direction for the drone to fly in, and enable the drone to turn or tilt the gimbal as needed without having to change the direction of a flight. The Phantom 4 Advanced features two different TapFly Modes.
TapFly Forward: This mode enables users to Tap to Fly in any specific direction
TapFly Free: Users can lock the forward direction of their drone without locking in the camera, for the freedom to turn the camera in flight.
RETURN TO HOME
In Return to Home, the Phantom 4 Advanced can choose the best route to return home to automatically. The drone will record its route while in flight, to return to home while avoiding obstacles if the control signal is disconnected.
The Phantom 4 Advanced can also adjust its flight path to actively avoid obstacles in the air. During takeoff, the Phantom Advanced records the scene it sees below and will compare the recording to what it observes on its return, for even more precise and safe landing. The drone can also assess the ground to see which spot is most suitable to land. If the drone detects any obstacles, such as rocks or water, the unit will automatically alert the user and hover in place.
Users can easily capture selfies in Gesture Mode. The drone’s computer vision technology enables the drone to take instructions through the user's gestures. The user can lift their arms in the air while facing the drone's camera, and the aircraft will automatically recognize the movement and lock the subject in place centre frame. When the user is ready to take a photo, the subject would simply hold their arm out to signal the drone and a three-second countdown would commence.
